Vashon Island has held a strawberry festival for 109 years. Wow, that's a lot of years. Starting in 1909, Vashon Island shipped more than 120,000 crates of strawberries and decided to celebrate. Since then, the name might have changed to reflect the changes in the residents, but the festival itself remains. This weekend July 16th and 17th, the tradition continues from 10am till 6pm. Festival InfoA personal weakness, strawberries are a focal center of the festival with strawberry sundaes, strawberry lemonade, strawberry funnel cakes, strawberry topped pancakes, strawberry smoothies, strawberry ice cream and chocolate dipped strawberries at the festuval along with other locally grown and havested goodies.
