White Christmas at Wheelock Library

The Wheelock Library on Saturday December 17th from 2-4pm (doors open at 1:45) to show a classic Christmas movie: White Christmas with Bing Crosby.  His song, I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas is a classic and played on Muzac as well as most home stereos during the holiday season.  Bing Crosby, Rosemary Clooney and a mucial about a musical.  Can it get any better?  It is no secret I love this move and think it is one of the best movies of all time.  Enjoy the celebration of Christmas, beat the rain and introduce your kids to the start of a great family tradition!

Wednesday Movie at Wheelock Library

On December 7th, from 6-8pm (Doors open at 5:45), the Wheelock library off of Proctor Street in Tacoma is showing the Nightmare Before Christmas.  This is a great, but unusual movie.  If you've seen it before, then you know what I mean.  Otherwise, suffice it to say, it is a great Tim Burton movie about the confusion of holidays, Halloween and Christmas.  It is rated PG, so it is good for most audiences.

Enjoy the beginning of the Christmas Season and take a break from the rainy nights at the Wednesday Wheelock movies.

Polar Express at the Moore Library

The Polar Express is one of my family's favorite movies.  We enjoy watching it during the holiday season and reading the book all year round.  On December 10th, at 2:30-4pm (doors open at 2:15), the Moore library in Tacoma is offering a free screening of the movie.  Enjoy sugar cookies, juice and take home a jingle bell.  The movie is rated PG, but it is darling.

Movies at Main Library - Mars Needs Moms

On November 5th, from 1-3pm, the Tacoma Main library is hosting a screening of Mars Needs Moms.  The movie is rated PG.  Ive watched the trailer and have talked to friends who've seen the movie and they thought it was very cute.  All about a boy who realizes how much he still needs his mom, after she is kidnapped by aliens.

I mean, who doesn't like a good alien movie, right?  Doors open at 12:45 and is a great way to while away a potentially rainy day.  Stroll through the stacks of books after and take home some good reads for the next week.

Beetlejuice Movie at Wheelock Library

Perfect timing for Halloween, the Wheelock library off Proctor street in Tacoma is showing the movie Beetlejuice on Saturday October 29th, from 2pm till 4pm (doors open at 1:45).  The movie is rated PG and deals with creepy hauntings and death, but in a funny way, very Tim Burton.  This movie is a great way to usher in the feeling of holiday spirit for Halloween.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt. 1 at Moore Library

The Moore Library is hosting a screening of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt. 1 on October 29th from 2:30-5pm.  The movie is rated PG-13 and is another way to get everyone excited about the start of the holiday season with Halloween.

The library is also giving away door prizes: a life size stand up of Harry Potter and a boxed set of the Harry Potter Novels as well as a Harry Potter WAND.  This looks like a bunch of fun and I've heard from my Harry Potter fan friends, a good movie as well!

Couponing is not just on TV - Tacoma Main Library

Extreme Couponing is not just on TV anymore.  The Tacoma Main Library is offering a 2hr class taught by Heather Clarke of Queen Bee Coupons.  Extreme Couponing is not for everyone, but her methods might help you save big $$ on your monthly bills.  As a mom with 3 growing boys, I am definitely a fan of that!

On Monday October 24th at 7pm in the Olympic Room of the Tacoma Main Library go see Heather.  Clarke covers techniques for getting groceries, toiletries and drug store items cheap and even FREE by using coupons, rebates and sales.  You'll learn why and how to use coupons, suggestions for staying organized and tips for building your stockpile - so you never have to pay full price!

It does not appear from the library page here that there is a sign up for the class.

Wednesday Movie at Wheelock Library

Wednesday October 12th, starting at 6pm-8pm (doors open at 5:30) prepare to watch a great kids movie, Race to Witch Mountain.  This is the re-make starring Dwayne Johnson (The Rock), not the original from 1970 something.

This movie is rated PG and is something I would reccomend for children over the age of 8 or so.  Use your best jugement.  But if you are looking for something to do on a rainy Wednesday night, this could be your ticket.  (Yes, the pun was intentional. har, har)
